Thank You, Bill Buckley

It's been three years since William F. Buckley, Jr. left us for his eternal reward. The world is a far better environment for his presence and a lesser place since his departure.

There's not a day that ends without a thought of what he would have thought about its events but with equal appreciation for the thinkers he mentored, the leaders he helped on their ways.

What would he have thought of the elevation of Mr. Obama to the presidency? I suspect he would have told us we did it to ourselves, that we learned smooth means smart and that smart means good. I hope he would have told us that sometimes smooth and smart join to produce a false confidence.

Or just a con.
