Where are the Libyan Bodies?

Our ambassador to Libya was guarded by two retired SEALS. In life threatening circumstances that ended in four deaths at the hands of what is purported to be an undirected mob, they apparently did not use force to defend themselves.

Libyan bodies should have been stacked like cordwood. Where are the dead and wounded attackers?

Were the ambassador's security detail unarmed?

The attack was an act of war, for which we should retaliate. But if the State Department ordered the SEALS disarmed, we should be investigating a crime by Americans against Americans.

Where are the bodies?

Can't Quite Trust God's Sense of Humor

Democrats in Charlotte removed any mention of God from their party platform. Caught in a very public political squeeze, they then voted three times whether to put God back in. Each time, the vote to reinstate God failed. Finally, the chair of the convention ignored the vote and declared that God is back. The same day, Barack Obama decided that the risk of a lightning strike is too high for him to speak on an outside stage. Smart fellow!

Between a Rock and a Biden

Normally politicians work their butts off seeking election, then vacation. We've seen Barack Obama do this, campaigning 24/7 in 2008 then enjoying the good life for four years as a resident of the White House and only scheduler for Air Force One. In the current election cycle, he's working every minute and every angle to assure the good life does end prematurely.

But what of Joe Biden? Is he working the campaign trail as though his future depends on it?

Curiously, no. Joe Biden is on vacation at the beach this week. He was on vacation for a week last month, too.

Joe's acting as though he doesn't have a stake in this one.

I wonder...

The Good Old Days

Remember when we thought spending $600 for a toilet seat and $400 for a hammer was bad? Sounds absolutely terrific in this day of $24 million for a day job at a relative's solar panel factory.

Let's all hope future history books view the Obama administration as an aberration!

Not a Perfect President, But a Good One

This is how it's done.

Notice that he said "I" just once, because it was never about him.

It was all about them.

Thank you, Mr. President.

MORE Obama Illegal Aliens?

FIrst, it's Aunt Obama, poor, dirt poor living in government housing, here illegally.

Now it's Uncle Obama, a drunk driving illegal.

What's the man doing, smuggling them in on Air Force One?

Geez, Mr. Buffett, Quit Whining!

Dear Mr. Buffett:

I've never thought of you as helpless and I am not now enjoying the mental image of you publicly whining about your plight in The New York Times.

Quit complaining that you only paid $6,938,744 in federal taxes last year. After all, it's your own fault. You've spent zillions through the years paying CPAs and tax lawyers to help you and your companies avoid the very taxes you now complain isn't enough. Does your hypocrisy know no shame? Just recently you sheltered billions, literally billions, with the Gates Foundation rather than paying estate and capital gains taxes.

Even with that, all is not lost! Go ahead, pull out your checkbook and write a big one. A really big one. Make it out for all the taxes you've avoided paying the last forty years or so. The easiest way to determine the right amount is to take your total income over the years and multiply that figure by whatever tax rate you believe "the wealthy" ought to be paying today to carry "their fair share" of the burden.

Go ahead, man, for your own dignity, man up!

But please, quit the damn whining.

To Have Hope We Need Change!

It's that simple.

News Flash! Bachman Smarter Than Obama?

In a development that surprised many within the Beltway, Michelle Bachman today announced that she plans to campaign in all 50 states.

No response yet from the White House on whether Mr. Obama will extend his campaign to the 57 states he spoke of earlier.

Nor has the White House commented on Mrs. Backman's apparent greater familiarity with American geography.

The View From Planet Hubris

Imagine a scouting team of aliens arriving on Earth from planet Hubris, a team with absolutely no concept of economic freedom and free markets. If all they knew were macroeconomics learned from a book, they would not realize that billions of individual decisions underlay and direct markets every day, 24/7, each of which is made to provide narrow advantage, but in the aggregate provide the best collective choices.

Wouldn't they immediately presume to know better how things should work and set about to make it so?

That's what we have in the Obama White House and spreading through every federal agency like pod people, body snatchers completely alien to free markets and which views individual freedom as a messy obstacle to a better life to all.

Our "Not Ready for a Triple-A Rating President"

Barack Obama is awash in a sea of his own misconceptions, drowning in mountainous waves of misperceptions.

He is by far the most idealogical of our presidents, and the most mistaken.

Tim Geithner Plays the Blame Game, Again

During his confirmation process as Secretary of the Treasury, Timothy Geithner famously blamed TurboTax for his errors on his personal tax returns.

Now he's blaming the rating agency for his debt mistakes.

The man will never learn.

Barack Obama Makes History!

For the first time in more than two centuries, the American federal government has been awarded a less than top credit rating.

After months of warnings, S&P downgraded the U. S. government to a AA+ rating from the AAA rating that it held for 70 years. It is now in the same league as Spain.

We're awaiting word from the White House of exactly how the downgrade is the fault of President George W. Bush, Mr. Obama's predecessor in office and official blame boy. Mr. Bush has been out of office for 2.5 years. Mr. Obama, his successor, has shown little inclination to accept the responsibilities but no hesitation about enjoying the perks of the office.

UPDATE: I'm reminded that it was just over a year ago that Mr. Obama's whiz-kid extraordinaire, Mr. Tim Geithner, Secretary of the Treasury and the man directly responsible for America's credit rating, said about the possibility of a downgrade,

Absolutely not,” he said. “That will never happen to this country.
Of course, Mr. Geithner is the man that couldn't even do his own taxes correctly, so what should we have expected?

Obama Claims Signature Hacked!

First, the national sideshow of Anthony Weiner, who claimed for more than ten days that his Twitter account had been hacked by some mysterious malefactor, perhaps the notorious right wing conspiracy of Hillary's day, intent on either destroying him or playing an innocent prank.

Now, Barack Obama is claiming that his very signature was hacked fifteen years ago to validate a survey which his official spokesman now claims Obama didn't sign. Included in the survey was a question whether then-candidate for state senate Obama favored gay marriage. Statement number 6, on the same page as the signature, says in plain print

I favor legalizing same-sex marriage, and would fight efforts to prohibit such marriages.
His signature is bold and black. The graphic of the signature has been floating around in news stories for nearly 15 years, and now White House communications directors Dan Pfeiffer says it's not Obama's signature on the form.

The gay rights folks are beside themselves, but heck, they're already bought and paid for. I mean, who are they going to turn to, Michelle Bachman?

Give me a break.

Proof That O'Bama is Irish?

In recent days Mr. Obama spent more time in an Irish pub than visiting the destroyed city of Joplin, Missouri.

Erin go bragh!

Joplin? Meh.

I, Robot: The Teleprompter Presidency

While former President Barack Obama continued his goodwill pub crawl through Europe, his replacement at the head of government signed the renewal of the Patriot Act which was presented for Presidential approval. The Teleprompter President, Mr. Obama's replacement, known to friends as TOTUS, for the first time used its robotic arm to sign legislation.

Former President Obama had earlier described the Patriot Act as a shoddy and dangerous law and suggested that it should be replaced. While he was President, Mr. Obama made no effort to replace or modify the law he disparaged.

In its comments at the late night signing ceremony, TOTUS made clear its support of the substantial increase in robotic employment that will result from widespread use of the law to eavesdrop, surveil and otherwise monitor human activities.

Remember Jimmy Carter's "Stagflation?" It's ba-a-a-a-ck

Jobless claims are trending up again while economic growth is slowing and inflation growing. We're looking at a nearly perfect storm of economic woes, where one key indicator, the inflation rate, is obscured only because the costs of housing as defined by the government are falling. That a basket of commodity prices have risen 35% in the past year is not a reflection of supply or demand nearly so much as an indication of the fallen value of an American dollar under Mr. Obama's watch. And while America twists slowly on a rotisserie above the coals of economic strain, the leader of its government is playing celebrity guest on a political reality show where there is no story line except his.

Like George Hamilton III, Paris Hilton or a couple of dozen others, our President is becoming best-known for being a vacuous celebrity, or as Joe Biden once described him, "good looking, clean and well-spoken", playing his role in a show where every scene is about him, only him.

This morning Mr. Obama took to the airwaves to express his bemusement at the interest that has built up about the location of his birth, a thread he has milked assiduously for attention for nearly three years.

At the same time he asks, not apparently rhetorically, why so little attention has been paid the last two weeks to his "budget", a budget that is supposed to save the country from economic Armageddon. That Mr. Obama confuses a "speech" with a "budget" reflects his disdain for his office or for the people he governs, or both. It also demonstrates a mental tick common in the extraordinarily arrogant, an ability to mistake his words for reality.

A "budget" is a written document specifying in some detail future outlays and receipts. In our federal system it describes taxes and expenditures in a manner that can be analyzed, compared and contrasted with alternatives, and reported upon. A real budget can be "scored" by the CBO and voted on by the House and the Senate.

A speech is not a budget, Mr. Obama. A speech, even yours, is just a speech.

And, at this point, a birth certificate is really not all that interesting.

The Most Expensive Birth Certificate Ever?

Apparently Mr. Obama has not heard of FedEx, DHL or UPS. Perhaps he doesn't trust the U.S. Post Office.

For whatever reason, he felt delivery of his certified birth certificate was so important that it required the dispatch of a lawyer from the Washington, DC offices of Perkins Coie to personally pick it up in Honolulu and hand deliver it to the White House Tuesday evening. And no, the Perkins associates or paralegals weren't up to the task; no less than a full partner was tasked for the 22-hour round trip flight.

Total cost, more than $12,000.
