Barack Doesn't Do Symbols

It was just a few weeks ago that presidential candidate Barack Obama explained his decision to no longer wear an American flag on his lapel as part of his opposition to what he believes has become a substitute for "true patriotism."

This view, courtesy of TIME magazine, shows the respect that Obama affords the National Anthem at a recent outdoor BBQ for Iowa's Senator Harkin. It appears that Senator Obama may have earlier understated his position on either symbolism or patriotism.

There's no word as to how a President Obama would respond at military parades or formal services to honor America's fallen.

"No dearest, I don't do kisses anymore. They're just a substitute for true love."
