Gen. Pelosi's $24 Billion

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, who simultaneously holds positions as Ambassador at Large as well as General of the Army, has very generously included an extra $24 billion in the emergency supplemental funding bill for American troops fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.

She and Harry Reid, her aide decamp, a wealthy real estate developer, permanent resident of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel and part-time Senate Majority Leader, have agreed to meet with President Bush to discuss the bill.

That $24 billion would pay for 200,000 additional soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines.

Managed carefully, that $24 billion could dramatically reduce the stress on our current forces and their families while simultaneously increasing the size and effectiveness of the fist our forces can extend, perhaps by as much as 50%.

President Bush should suggest this path as the best way of measuring General Peolosi's support for our troops.
