The Drifters' Last Dance: Bill Pinkney Has Died
Bill Pinkney, the last surviving original member of the musical group The Drifters, died Wednesday at age 81. Mr Pinkney fought in World War II and was a pitcher for the New York Blue Sox of the Negro Baseball League after the war.
While he wasn't any longer with the group when they struck it big, he deserves recognition for helping to establish the Drifter's unique style, later made famous with Under The Boardwalk, Up on the Roof and most importantly Save The Last Dance For Me.
Veteran, pitcher in the NBL, R & B vocalist. RIP
