To the heroes who climbed 300 feet straight up, under cannon and machine gun fire; to the heroes who struggled the last 50 feet through hell on earth to reach the beach in order to begin the fight; to the heroes who jumped from their planes into the black of night.

To all those who lie at rest in foreign lands or who returned to live a bit longer in the land they made free.
